MINE VICTIM ASSISTANCE IN AFGHANISTAN

“10 years ago, I followed my cattle and walked on a mine. I was injured in both legs and my right leg was amputated. I am very happy with the work that the FSD deminers are doing (…) everyone has cattle here and we have to accompany them on trails. Once mine clearance is complete, no one will be injured, no one will risk losing a leg while going to work. ” said Mohamed, a victim of landmine explosion.

In 20 years, many inhabitants including children have been injured in the remote  region of Badakhshan. “Since the FSD began mine clearance, danger has reduced. The deminers cleaned up a lot of land and then returned it to the community. We really appreciate their work! Said Madersha, an English teacher who lost students, victims of mines.
