FSD’S ANNUAL EVENTS IN GENEVA & LAUSANNE

Free entry and open to all

January 2020

To celebrate the new year, FSD is pleased to invite the public to two afterwork events which will take place in Geneva and in Lausanne on 23 and 30 January 2020. Our demining operations will be presented, as well as the perspectives for the upcoming year.

EVENT

An exhibition of full size-portraits of demining professionals and mine victims in Iraq, Afghanistan and Ukraine will be displayed. Our photographer Alexandre Streuli will be present to explain the context in which these photographs were taken and answer questions.

A demining demonstration will also take place. Our demining expert Alex van Roy will perform a simulation using a metal detector and will show the different tools and techniques used by deminers. The protective equipment worn by deminers will also be presented, as well as the measures taken during clearance to ensure maximal safety.

FSD director Hansjoerg Eberle will also explain what awaits FSD for 2020, and present the many challenges faced by deminers nowadays. The specific issue of improvised mines left by ISIS in Iraq will be addressed.

A variety of drinks and snacks will be available at both events.

💙 The first 100 visitors will receive a surprise gift!   💙
