Land scarred by war<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Chad has endured long periods of conflict, the consequences of which remain visible in the form of landmines and unexploded ordnance, particularly in the north of the country. These explosive remnants of war continue to pose a constant threat to local populations and hinder the socio-economic development of the Borkou, Ennedi and Tibesti regions \u2014 among the poorest in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Building national demining capacity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

From 2017 to 2022, FSD participated in the PRODECO project, funded by the European Union and implemented in consortium with Handicap International (HI), Mines Advisory Group (MAG) and Secours Catholique D\u00e9veloppement (SECADEV). Within this framework, FSD provided administrative, logistical, managerial and technical support to the National High Commission for Demining, while MAG and HI conducted clearance operations in the field and SECADEV focused on socio-economic activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sustained support to national authorities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Through its technical expertise, FSD strengthened the operations of Chad\u2019s National Demining Centre and helped lay the foundations for a more autonomous and structured approach to mine action. Even after the end of the PRODECO project in 2022, the capacities developed and the updated tools continue to benefit both the authorities and the communities living in contaminated areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
